The Society of Australian Fight Directors in partnership with Full Throttle Theatre Company and Theatre iNQ are proud to be holding our annual, National Stage Combat Workshop in Townsville in July 2017.
Some of Australia and the world’s best Fight Directors and Stage Combat Instructors will be presenting our new and exciting Fundamentals certification course as well as a specialty weapons workshop. The Fundamentals workshop is for newcomers to stage combat or those whom have done our previous Basic certification over 2 years ago. The specialty workshop is designed for performers whom have already done the Fundamentals certification or our previous Intermediate or Advanced within the past 2 years.
The Fundamentals workshop is designed to develop a performer’s fundamental skill base and understanding of movement through martial concepts and rigorous physical training. These concepts will be explored through four categories: Body Control, Close-Range, Mid-Range and Long-Range.
Participants will learn to control their body in space with control and balance as well as developing competency in contact work. Techniques learnt will include: strikes, reactions, targeting, safety, distance and lines of attack as well as an understanding of martial practises. Participants will also develop the ability to wield a single-handed sword and a double handed weapon with precision and control.
Presenting this workshop will be Nigel Poulton, Andy Fraser, Tim Dashwood and Townsville’s own Justin Palazzo-Orr.
