The Road to Midnight: Redux
April 18 at 10:30 pm - 11:30 pm
Directed by Todd Barty
Adapted from the play From Morning to Midnight by George Kaiser
The worst midlife crisis ever!
“The Road to Midnight” begins in the auditorium of a Gothic asylum, where a mad doctor is collaborating with one of the patients to reinvent theatre; creating a form that is more than a passing diversion imitating life.
The story they tell is of a humble bank cashier living a mechanical existence in a small town. When a beautiful woman inadvertently brushes his hand, his psyche is fractured and he pulls a heist on the bank in an attempt to win her hand and find something more in life. This sets him on a wild collision course as he abandons his loving family and becomes embroiled in the guilty pleasures of Berlin’s seedy, decadent nightlife – still unable to find any truth. The tale is told in the style of a madman’s dream as it screams through and around the audience to its electrifying conclusion.
“The Road to Midnight” has horror, melodrama and lots of laughs; darkly funny and surreal. You will not see entertainment like this in Townsville any time soon and it will open your mind – if you love theatre or love fun, see ‘The Road to Midnight’!
Oh, and it is rated MA+ – language, a stylised sex scene and a scary atmosphere make this one for the adults!
