Futz is a Tropic Sun, Theatre To The Edge Production
A sexual satire set in rural America about a farmer whose bad experiences with women lead him to shower love and affection on his pet pig “Amanda”. To say he was an animal lover would be an understatement! When Cyrus’s sin is discovered he becomes the target of the village lynch mob. But who is fit to cast the first stone?
Tropic Sun’s production directed by Karen Gibb is a physically styled work incorporating live music as a soundscape - enhancing the undertones of a seedy small town mentality. For those who like your humor black, this ones for you.
This avant-garde piece of theatre abounds in wry wit, strange characters, poinancy and sardonic humor. A provocative and stimulating night of theatre!
Toronto banned it, an Edinburgh paper dubbed it the "lust and bestiality play", but New Yorkers queued round the block when it was first produced Off Broadway in the ‘60s
