Full Throttle Theatre Company

G'day again everyone,

Another week has passed, time for another newsletter! Time just seems to disappear around this part of the year. In the news today, Julia the orange-ish Siamese fighting fish is dead. Looks like she jumped out of her bowl, and was found lifeless, colourless and dried up on the ground. Nothing could be done to save her, and a replacement fish will be sought. Lets call it Kevin.

Last Friday we had a fantastic wine and cheese night, with live music from folk duo "Chloe and Silas", brought to you by music centre NQ. Thanks to all of you who came along, It was a great night!

In coming weeks, our next big event will be an evening of JCU Creative Exchange project launches. This will include the short animated film "Live a Little" by Scarecrow Productions, the UP magazine launch and "See Hear Us", a showcase of indigenous artists and musicians. We've all been working really hard on these projects, so please come along for an amazing night! Kicks off at 5pm, more info can be found from JCU School of Creative Arts.

Also in November, we have:

Our first scheduled event in December will be Tristan Savage's Performance, "Australian Ghost". We'll keep you updated.

Also, please don't respond directly to e-news letters, its not a real email account and chances are it wont get to anyone, and we'd love to read your emails! To contact us, madonna's email is madonna@fullthrottletheatre.com.

Full Throttle Theatre Company

Hello again everyone,

Its been a busy week for us, with an awesome TMPAS concert last Friday featuring Mark Easton, Eb n' Flo, and Sean Thomas and the Funk Monkeys, followed by an absolutely incredible album launch on Saturday for the Longshots' new album, "Pant Hoot". I'm sure all of you who were at these events would agree they were nights to remember. We had our 3rd PANTS market on Sunday too, which was as wonderful as ever, with a great turn out.

We've also been busy preparing for our upcoming events, as have been Shakespeare Under the Stars who are bringing both these events to you:

We will keep you updated about our events coming up in August and beyond as they approach.

You may have noticed we are overdue for another wine and cheese night- fear not, we have just put it on hold while we've been flat out with all this other stuff, and you can expect one soon in August some time- we'll keep you updated.

One final note, if you have not yet found our facebook page, we encourage you to "like" it so you can keep up to date with full throttle news as it happens and see all our photos etc. from recent events!

Have a great day,

The Full Throttle Team

SAD NEWS

I was informed earlier this week that Mr Martin Gibson, husband of Lorna Hempstead, our past GM, passed away suddenly while they were holidaying overseas. This is devastating news and we send our condolences to Lorna. Martin was a lovely man and a great supporter of the arts. He will be missed.

A bit of news

Niz Jabour an Iraqi Theatre Director is in town putting together his new theatre work Iraqi Nights.  Niz was exiled from Iraq and will be screening his film here at the theatre this Friday at the WINE AND CHEESE from 7pm in the Front Room. The footage is raw and was filmed ‘secretly’ over four visits to Iraq. He is inviting us to view it and have a discussion with him afterwards. He is inviting anyone to be a part of his new production. Wine and Cheese will be present.

We will run the film a few times over the evening as well as next Friday the 27th   WINE AND CHEESE Songwriters night and on the 26th of JUNE at the PANTS Markets. The film runs for 1 hour and we envisage a good half hour discussion afterwards.

PANTS MARKETS

The Performing Artists Network Townsville and Stuff – Artists, Eco and Fruit and Vege Co-op Markets were extremely well attended and the feedback has been fantastic. There is always room for improvements of course and we thank all of those people who came. Many people attended who had never been to the venue before.  Oh except for the bloke who got locked up in the watch house 36 years ago. Drunk and disorderly when he was 16. True story. Took him a while to recognize the place.

That’s it from the team!

Full Throttle will now be holding 2 wine and cheese nights this month, next friday (the 20th) at 4.30, and a songwriters' evening the week after that (Friday the 27th), also starting at 4.30.

Also a quick reminder about this Sunday, we will be having the markets at 10am, where you can buy local fruit and veg (fruit and veg co-op starts at 12) and support local artists who will be holding stalls and keeping us entertained, and Sunday evening at 6.30 will be the Kristina Olsen concert, which will also have a wine and cheese style.

One final note, we will be holding a giant puppet making workshop in Charters Towers over 2 weekends, 21st-22nd and 28th-29th of May. This workshop has been brought to you by Uncle Cuthbert's Cantankerous Old Goat's puppet theatre and funded by the Charters Towers Regional Arts Development fund, in partnership with Charters Towers PCYC, 10 Days in the Towers, Charters Towers Country Music Festival and the Charters Towers Regional Council.
