North Queensland Young Write Sparks 101

Full Throttle Theatre in partnership with JUTE Theatre Company is currently calling for expressions of interest our second NQ Young Write Sparks 101 program. This is a FREE online Playwriting program funded and supported by the North Queensland, Regional Arts Service Network. This is a playwrighting program specifically designed for writers new to performance writing.

That one idea…

Do you have a story you’re passionate about? Is it bubbling away in your mind just waiting for a chance to be heard somehow? Have you ever thought about learning the craft of writing for the stage? Even if you have some experience in performance or performance writing, this course gives you so much more than just the basics.

Write Sparks 101 offers an exciting skills development opportunity for aspiring young writers aged 14 to 17 years living in North Queensland.

About JUTE

JUTE is a new works theatre company and has been running writing development courses since 1998. In 2016, the company revamped the programs and Write Sparks was launched. Since then, the program has helped 22 writers from the Cairns region to realise their dream of developing a story they are passionate about. In October 2019, the first of these writers experienced her first professional production with JUTE. Many other writers from the Write Sparks program are under consideration. This program will start you off on your writing journey and one day you too may have your work performed by JUTE.

About the Facilitator: Kathryn Ash, an award winning published playwright. Kathryn studied acting at the Australian Theatre For Young People in Sydney, and has performed in a number of professional acting roles. She is a founding member and a Creative Producer of  JUTE. Five of her full length plays have been produced, as well as three adaptations from Shakespeare.
